Artist insights

“I’m fascinated by the way animals emerge from darkness, and Spellbound takes that idea to the extreme. I was drawn to this black cat’s mesmerizing eye, with its incredible colors and intricate patterns. Catchlights are especially important in my artwork because they’re what bring a portrait to life. Here, I designed the reflection to resemble claw marks, adding a slightly sinister edge. I love how the cat nearly disappears into shadow while its eye commands all the attention. Sometimes what you can’t see is just as compelling as what you can.”
